The gamestore in Arboretum - or should we say Pinetum - is due to be dismantled to safe storage very soon. It's quite vunerable in its current spot - any ideas for a new home somewhere else in Langley Park or Black Park? Or should it go back into the restored 'Pinetum?'

One of the attendees at a recent meeting had always interpreted 'Game Store' and somewhere to store equipment for games played in the arboretum. Croquet springs to mind.
Are we sure it was for edible 'Game'
Anyway, I think we should keep it in Langley Park and make it so substantial that it is impossible to vandalise (not sure how) or put it somewhere visible but not accessible to the public.
Or....... put it right in the middle of where everybody goes, the car park or the visitor centre.
I would rather it was not put in storage because we may never see it again. |

| Assuming that we have sufficient resources and parts to fully rebuild the game store, then prime requirements are, a firm base to put it on, and an open area where it might be less prone to vandalism.It therefore seems to me that once the toilet block has been demolished, the waste outlets could be filled and sealed and a cement screed covered over the whole thing. This would save on the cost of both removing the old base, and building a new one. Once the store has been erected, bench seats around the inside would make it suitable for visitors to escape the rain or sun, and there would still be room on the base for additional bench seats outside. The backdrop of the Ha-Ha and Temple Gardens would make an ideal setting for it's timber frame and tiled roof. The whole thing would be readily visible from the picnic area, from the vista, and from the paths from Kings Wood and the A412, making it a perfect focal point for the top end of the park. |

| I can't disagree with a single word John has suggested. Good idea to me! Is it possible to 'fireproof' the timber? |
