Questions from my niece and nephew, Ashley 7 and Jonathan 9:

How many different types of wildlife are there are in the park. What sort are we likely to see during an afternoon walk?
Are the swans still around? Do they hibernate
?

Hi Ashley and Jonathan.

The most common animals you will see are dogs and horses. My dog is a black labrador! There are dozens of wild animals living in the park. The largest is probably a deer and the smallest mammal possibly a shrew?

I am open to other suggestions.

The swans are still there with their young cygnets who are a dull brown colour. They do not hibernate but the parents will chase the youngsters away early next year.

Some of the most common birds to be seen and heard in the park are the ring-necked parakeets. My favourites this year have been a pair of hobbies swooping around the top field and down the vista.

The smallest birds in the park are goldcrests. These are fairly common and tend to hang around near the Wellingtonias.

Have you been to the park and did you see any good sightings?

Thanks Ringo. We have seen horses and cows, swans and thats it. Have you seen any fairies? Do you have group picnics? We had a lovely picnic in the summer.

Yes we will have a group picnic in the spring when the weather has changed. I can't promise you will see any fairies but there is a very good chance we will see squirrels, woodpeckers, parakeets and possibly a penguin........ if I pack one in my lunchbox! tee hee!
