I'm new to this forum but I think this will interest those who have been here for awhile.
My dog, Zach and I visit the park several times a week (watch for a Yank & a wolfhound - http://www.flickr.com/photos/lucindee/289770124/in/set-72057594064780772/). We arrived later than ususal this morning and subsequently met a lady who called herself Dizzy who reminded me about this online forum.
She also told us about the plans to fence off the layby on Billet Lane. As Zach & I usually visit the park long before the car park opens it looks like we'll have to find a new parking spot - but we can live with that. Dizzy explained that the plan was intended to discourage fly-tippers who are an obvious pest in the area and we discussed whether this would atually make a difference or not.
It all seems a mute point to me now. I met Dizzy around 0710. When Zach and I got back at nearly 0800 the spot where Dizzy's car was parked was now filled with this (http://www.flickr.com/photos/waugaman/391324954/ ).
Is there anything that can be done?

Hi Michael
Welcome to the Friends of Langley Park Forum.
I can't answer your question about what can be done (although I'm sure other forum members can).
With regards to parking, we always park on the main road (A412 I think) just past the turnoff for Billett Lane, where you can park for free in the lay-by and use that minor entrance.
Hope this helps.

I find it extremely frustrating when the car park is shut and there is plenty of daylight left, either before 8.15 a.m. or after 4.30 p.m. I am very pleased that the car park hours are being put back to 5.30 p.m. next Thursday and to 7.30 p.m. in April.
I have raised this issue with the Parks people and made the point that if the park is a 24/7 facility then why can't we use the park before work in the mornings. The response, which I do appreciate, is that Ranger availability, insurance, duty rosters (finance?) would make this difficult and expensive. The nett result is that you have to park in the lay-bys in Billet Lane which you shouldn't do (Highways Act) or take your life in your hands and park alongside the A412, which has a terrible history of accidents, and walk in from there.
I'm not sure if there is anything we can do but it may be worth asking again for increased opening hours.
Nice to have a new contributor on board! |

Michael, I have had a quick look and the photo's are very interesting. I will have to look in more detail this evening at home. Thank you for the information.
I see there is even more rubbish dumped in the lay-by this week. Fridges and freezers!! |

Hi Michael, glad to see another contributor on the forum at last.... Love the dog and have looked at your other photos on Flickr which are good too.... would maybe like to use one or two on our next newsletter if I may.....
Kevin Day's photos on Flickr are also excellent..... we met him on an early morning wildlife walk in Black Park last September... nice chap.
With regard to the fly tipping, it happens all the way from when you turn in to Trenches Lane right the way along to the A412, always a nightmare.... I always email Bucks County Council..... They clear it up but that's about all..... there are signs that say CCTV cameras are in operation, but obviously not often enough ! |
